At the Western Reserve Junior Service League’s signature fundraiser, Putting on the Ritz, co-chair Pam Morse stood at the center of a night that blended Art Deco glamour with focused generosity. Morse, alongside co-chair Tara Burgett, helped lead an evening designed to celebrate community and compassion — and to power WRJSL’s mission for the year ahead.

The event transformed the historic Manakiki Golf Club into a scene out of the Roaring Twenties. Feathers, glitzy gold-and-black décor, and a crescent-moon photo backdrop set the tone, while live jazz and the clink of glasses carried through a program full of giving — from a wine pull to ever-popular mystery gift bags.

Bidding energy ran high in the live auction, where a “Rock ’n’ Roll Dinner” package drew cheers at $1,000, and premium bourbon lots added to the fun. In a sparkling moment, long-time member Marlene Castilyn was photographed cradling a one-of-a-kind diamond necklace by designer Bill Brown — an annual showpiece valued at $3,585.

Throughout, Morse’s imprint was unmistakable. Photos captured her with Burgett welcoming guests and celebrating winners; captions emphasized the co-chairs’ role in hosting “an evening celebrating community and compassion.”

Burgett later summed up the collaboration: “It was an honor to co-chair such a beautiful event with Pam Morse. We’re so grateful for the generosity and support of everyone who attended.” Morse echoed the sentiment, calling the night “truly special” — a description she tied to WRJSL’s theme: “A black-tie gala for giving and growth.”

Beyond the sparkle, the purpose remained front-and-center: Putting on the Ritz is the League’s largest annual fundraiser, with every dollar directed back into the community through the Community Research Grant Program — funding 501(c)(3) initiatives across Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula counties. The result is a pipeline of innovative programs that directly benefit local residents.

As the evening wound down, many lingered under the soft lights — reluctant to leave the shimmer behind. Thanks to leaders like Pam Morse, the glow will last far beyond one glittering night, carried forward in grants, programs, and the quieter moments of help WRJSL delivers all year.
