There are more cattle in Montana than there are people. Elk, deer, and antelope outnumber the humans. It is also home to the largest Grizzly Bear population in the lower 48 states.
Montana’s nickname is ‘The Treasure State’ because of its hugely rich mineral reserves. Montana’s other nicknames are ‘Big Sky Country’ and ‘Land of the Shining Mountains’.
Some fun facts about Montana are – The Montana Yogo Sapphire is the only North American gem to be included in the Crown Jewels of England, Montana has more bookstores per capita than any other state, Montana was the first state to elect a woman to Congress in 1916.

(1) Guiding sheep onto a railroad track with an intent to injure the train can get you five years in prison or a $50,000 fine.
(2) It is illegal for married women to go fishing alone on Sundays, and unwed ladies are not allowed to fish alone at all.
(3) It is illegal to drive with a sheep in the cab of your truck unless you have a chaperone.
(4) It is a felony in Montana for a wife to open her husband’s mail.
(5) It is illegal in Helena, Montana to annoy people on sidewalks with a revolving sprinkler.
