Moving To Colorado – Fun Facts
If you are moving to Colorado, you should know that it is nicknamed the “Centennial State” because it joined the union a century after the United States Declaration of Independence was written.
If mountains and lakes are important to you, don’t think of transferring your home to Switzerland. The mountainous area of Colorado is six times the size of Switzerland, and contains 9,600 miles of fishing streams, 2,850 lakes, and over 1,000 peaks that are at least two miles high.
Here’s an amazing distinction. Without moving or settling to any other state, you can be in Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah at the same time. When in Colorado head to the Four Corner Monument, it’s the only place in all of the US where the corners of four states all meet.
The Dwight Eisenhower Memorial Tunnel is the highest auto tunnel in the world. It runs between Summit Counties and Clear Creek in Colorado.
“America the Beautiful” was written about Pike’s Peak.
Colorado has some Funny Laws:
(1) You can’t drink and ride a horse at the same time in Boulder.
(2) Logan County prohibits kissing sleeping women.
(3) It is allowable for persons to rip tags off of pillows and mattresses.
(4) It is unlawful to bring your horse or pack mule higher than the ground floor of any building.
(5) You are not allowed to drive a black vehicle on Sundays in Denver.
